Gare de Nantes
Built in its current structure between 1965 and 1968, the “Gare de Nantes” railway station is the main station serving the French city of Nantes. It is a transit location, aligned east-west, with entrances and structures on both the north and south sides. The two entrances are often called Gare Nord and Gare Sud, as if they were separate stations, but in reality they are connected to each other and to all platforms by a pedestrian underpass. It is located a little further east of the old Gare d’Orléans, originally the Nantes station of the Chemin de Fer de Paris à Orléans, which it
replaced.
Within the transit area, areas with tables, seats and charging points have been created, so as to give passengers waiting for their train the right refreshment, or to access a real platform for smart working. The Wing tables arranged in front of bright floor-to-ceiling windows and the E-quo system positioned in the adjacent area play with the geometries of shadow given by the installations in the shape of bare trees that can be admired and appreciated inside the building.
